Solid 11

The Amadi Park Hotel is located in the Solids 11 building. On the spot where a former hospital building of the Wilhelminagasthuis used to be. Solid 11 was designed by Tony Fretton Architects from England. The design of Solid 11 is characterized by great attention to details both on the outside and on the inside. When choosing the materials used, we have consistently opted for beautifully aging materials that last a long time: aluminum frames and doors, brick, natural stone and glass. Striking is the large artwork by artist Hans van Bentem in the glass front. Construction of Solid 11 started on December 17, 2009. The building was completed on July 18, 2011. Opened by the beloved late mayor Eberhard van der Laan.

In 'With other eyes', a publication by Frank Bijdendijk from 2006 in which the why and 'the making of' of the Solids are motivated, experiences from more than three decades working in the Dutch construction sector as well as international examples appear to have been a breeding ground. . Solids is based on the individual needs of the diversity within the city. The layout of the building can best be compared to a squat in which all kinds of housing, work and tourism come together.
